Your Grandmother’s Heirloom Ring Just Broke. Now What? Preusser’s Explains

Pearl necklace as part of heirloom jewelry

A family heirloom is as important as the member who passed it along. With it travels history, family connection, and the story of how it came into existence and how your family cherishes it.

How Do I File a Claim?

You need to contact your homeowners or renters agent to get the ball rolling. We can not ethically do that for you. Once your claim has been filed, most insurance companies will have an adjuster contact you, when the claim has been opened. The adjuster is not your agent.

Your insurance company most likely will send the claim to different jewelers to get a quote on replacing the piece. Many insurance companies use Preussers to help their clients, as we are upfront and transparent in how we go about doing that.

When a client has had an heirloom piece lost, stolen or damaged it is especially heartbreaking. We understand we cannot replace the sentiment that is gone. What we can do is re-create it as closely as possible, or some clients prefer to use the coverage funds to make an entirely different piece.

Insurance companies we work with include:

  • Auto Owners
  • Farm Bureau
  • Frankenmuth
  • Wolverine
  • Fremont
  • State Farm
  • Chubb
  • Pioneer
  • Jewelers Mutual
  • And Many More
